ABOUT US

Little Nippers Early Learning & Child Care is a child care centre where children are provided with high quality care and education.

We are passionate about children’s rights to quality education and care. Our beliefs and practices stem from five key themes; optimising individual’s ability to succeed, developing strong relationships, the right to be included, the importance of our environment and our community.

Growing
A place for children, families and educators to learn and grow within an environment that promotes a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Relationships
We understand that respectful relationships are the very heart of care and education in early childhood. Our interactions nurture a sense of identity and belonging within our centre.

Inclusion
We welcome everyone into our Little Nippers community. We value the diversity of experiences and perspectives derived from differences. We work in partnership with families, local services and the wider community to encourage inclusion within our curriculum and our practices.

Community
The elements that make up our community are diverse and unique. Our families, history, cultures architecture, natural environment, social, sporting and religious groups all contribute to who we are and the education we provide. Our programs are both real and relevant.

Environment
A home away from home; our centre is warm and inviting from our pot plant filled foyer as you enter, to our large tree filled back yard. We are strong advocates for learning through nature and play.

CORE VALUES

Our Promise

We believe that a child’s early years are their most influential. This is the time your child develops the foundation skills and abilities that will set them up for life. Our role is to foster strengths and cultivate positive attitudes towards learning. Each child will be respected and included as a valuable member of our centre.
We will:

1. Work as partners with you and your family to give your child the best start.
2. Communicate with you, seeking and providing relevant information.
3. Provide quality care and education.
4. Deliver a program of experiences which will promote the total development and wellbeing of your child.
5. Minimise the risk of harm by providing a safe, secure, happy and loving home like environment where children have a sense of belonging and community.
6. Provide an environment that is rich in resources to stimulate learning and development.
7. Employ educators who are energetic, nurturing, and passionate about educating children.
8. Recognise, be sensitive and accept individual differences in children.
9. Reinforce positive social behavior.
10. Seek the input of our families and the community to ensure our service meets their needs.
11. Welcome all families, respect their diversities and encourage their engagement.

THE OWNERS

Matthew and Sharon live locally with their two children. They are committed community members, volunteering with the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club and advocates for our beautiful Far South Coast. In 2017 Sharon fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an Early Childhood Teacher. She has been the Director of Little Nippers since May 2009 and is as enthusiastic today as she was then. She is dedicated to providing a service that meets the needs of local families and actively promotes early childhood education as an important part of every child’s development.e.

THE BUILDING & EQUIPMENT

The centre is a purpose designed child care centre. All the playrooms are light and airy with a home like feel. They open out to a covered veranda. Our backyard is shady in summer and sunny in winter - full of natural play spaces and divided into two play areas for the children to explore.

THE SERVICE

The hours of operation are 7.30AM to 6.30PM, fifty two weeks of the year, five days per week. The centre will be closed on all Public Holidays. There will be no charge for children booked into care on a public holiday.

OUR EDUCATORS

All educators have, or are working towards, Early Childhood qualifications with more than 50% of them having higher than the minimum qualifications required. Our recruitment and orientation process is very important as we value people who will compliment our professional team and provide high quality care and education for your child. Our team consists of:

Sharon Walker – Owner/Director, Early Childhood Teacher, Nominated Supervisor and Educational leader
Early Childhood Teachers as per the regulations
More than half our educators are Diploma level, a Diploma student or Early Childhood Teacher.
The remaining educators are either Certificate 111 trained or Certificate 111 students.

We also have a team of Responsible Persons who are experienced educators deemed responsible for the day to day running of the centre in the absence of the Nominated Supervisor. The on duty Responsible Person is displayed in the foyer.
